Cacao & Tahini Smoothie

What makes this smoothie so special is that it’s chocolate… for breakfast! Or you can have it accompanied by a big bowl of salad for lunch.

Here is a cacao & tahini smoothie that’s simple, delicious and will actually leave you feeling satisfied for hours. 

Hulled tahini has a much lighter flavor with a hint of sweetness. Before you make this recipe, make sure you're using hulled tahini as it will give a much nicer flavor to the smoothie, and not the earthy and bitter flavor from the unhulled version. 

This Cacao & Tahini smoothie tastes like a rich dessert. Tahini is a creamy paste made from sesame seeds, and it’s an amazing ingredient for smoothies, not only it tastes delicious but also leaves you satisfied for hours.

The secret is to use a brand of tahini that is runny. Some brands may be thicker and used more like a spread, avoid those. If you don’t like tahini, you can always sub it for almond, peanut or cashew butter.

This smoothie would also be delicious with some toasted nuts on top. 



1/2 frozen ripe banana

1 scoop Chocolate Essentials Shake

1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk(*)

2 tsp cacao powder

1 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp cacao nibs (optional for crunch)

1 tbsp tahini

*or 1 cup unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 cold filtered water
